Creating multiple value chains for the adoption of 99% pure Cyrene™. Cyrene™ is a non-toxic solvent made from certified, renewable, cellulosic biomass. It is a sustainable and high performing alternative to NMP, DMF and DMAc.
About
The ReSolute project will scale a unique process to create an entirely new value chain. It will use cellulosic biomass to produce the platform molecule levoglucosenone (LGO) and its derivative Cyrene™, a safe and high performing biosolvent, and convert waste by-products for beneficial utilisation.
ReSolute will deliver an innovative process, at industrial scale, to convert sustainable non-food biomass into Cyrene™ using the FuracellTM process followed by a catalytic hydrogenation. This two-step process produces a bio-based chemical whose applications extends to a wide range of industrial sectors. It also has the strong potential to replace NMP, DMF and DMAc, which are known to pose hazards to human health and the environment.
ReSolute will build factories at an industrial scale that convert sustainable non-food biomass into safe, environmentally friendly chemicals with applications across diverse industrial sectors as a key part of the circular economy.
